I have always wanted to see how Acupuncture is practiced in its homeland of China, and now I have the opportunity. I will be flying out on 11 October with a group of Acupuncturists to GuangZhou. We will be studying and working in a hospital there where they treat around 2000 patients a day – purely with Acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Medicine and Tui Na (a form of Chinese massage). We will be working with various of their Professors, having lectures, observing and carrying out treatments (with translators organised!) and generally absorbing ourselves in the culture out there. Its going to be hard work by the looks of it but we have a ‘middle weekend’ where we will have some time out for city and mountain exploration, and its my birthday then too!! At the end of our stay we are having a ‘Chinese Banquet’ to celebrate our visit and thank our hosts. Hopefully I will be able to post lots of pictures of our trip – keep following the blog to check them out.
